• ALL GIRL

  

  The all girl team's 2010-2011 season ended with an amazing 3rd place finish at the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. This is the highest finsh ever for the all girl team and they are hoping to build on the 2011 experience for the upcoming season!

  2011-2012 begins with NCA camp. This season, the girls are headed to Northwest Missouri State University where they hope to earn a bid to Nationals! After camp, they move right into fall semester, filled with football games, alumni appearances and so much more!

  The coed team overcame numerous obstacles during the 2010-2011 season but still placed 5th at the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. This matches last year's finish and next year's goal is to place even higher!

  The team's first stop is Northwest Missouri State University for NCA camp. Here, they hope to earn a bid to Nationals! After camp, they move right into fall semester, filled with football games, alumni appearances and so much more!

• LOUIE THE LAKER

  

  Louie the Laker

  #1 Team Mascot in the Midwest.

  Louie the Laker is the fun-loving, zany, wacky, and over-the-top mascot of Grand Valley State University, located in Allendale, Michigan. The costume of Louie consists of a large cartoonish face with a goofy oversized jaw, a scowl, a blue and white striped shirt, blue pants, a blue captain's hat, and large black boots. He is seen at all football games as well as randomly around campus during events. Louie the laker is loosely based on a real man named Louis Van Tressel who was an oiler aboard the legendary freighter SS Edmund Fitzgerald. Louie is known for his immense passion for Grand Valley sports, and has revealed that he often dreams of Laker football. He was once married to a female mascot, Lucille the Sailor, but they have since separated.

• OUR HISTORY

  Our Cheer Family consists of two teams; coed and all girl. Brandy Skantze has been on the coaching staff since 2004 and is going into her sixth year as Head Coach. Assistant All Girl Coach, Mara Putvin and Assistant Coed Coach, James Morton, are each entering their second year on the coaching staff.

  Both teams cheer at all home football and basketball games. We also do many appearances on and off campus. Both teams also compete and the NCA National Collegiate National Championship, where they both have been consistent top 5 finishers.
